You will find lists online with titles like “top realtors in London”. We do not publish one, and we suggest reading any such list with caution. Rankings often reflect advertising, volume or a vendor’s own methodology. This guide shows you how to compare agents yourself, using things you can check.

Why we do not rank anyone

A fair ranking would need a clear, public method, current data on every agent and no commercial interest. We cannot offer that, and a list from a team that lists itself first is not neutral. So instead of a list, here are signals you can verify.

Signal 1: Registration and standing

Every agent in Ontario must be registered with the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO). Use the public register at reco.on.ca to confirm that the person is registered and to see their brokerage. This takes a minute and should be the first step in any comparison. For what comes after, including representation agreements, see how to find an agent you can trust.

Signal 2: Reviews, read critically

Reviews can be helpful. When you read them:

  • Prefer reviews on independent platforms to testimonials chosen by the agent.
  • Look for concrete details such as what the agent did and how problems were handled.
  • Note how recent they are.
  • Treat unsupported claims such as “number one” or “top-rated” as marketing unless the source, period and measure are named.

Signal 3: Track record you can see

Ask each agent to show you:

  • Recent listings and the marketing used (photos, floor plans, video).
  • Recent sales in the area and property type you care about, and how they relate to the original list price. Ask how they define the numbers.
  • References you can call.

Be sceptical of sales totals with no period, and remember that high volume does not necessarily mean a better fit for you.

Signal 4: Fit with your type of purchase

A good match depends on what you are buying. A first-time buyer in a condo, someone buying a country property with a well and septic, and an investor have different needs. See our guide on rural, condo and investment properties.

Signal 5: Communication and process

Notice how quickly they answer, whether they explain things plainly, and whether they push you to sign before you are ready. Ask to see any representation agreement ahead of time. RECO’s Bulletin 2.3 sets out what a buyer agreement should clearly show, including dates, how remuneration is determined, services and termination.

A simple scorecard

Interview two or three agents with the same questions and score them from 1 to 5 on:

  1. Verified registration
  2. Clarity about fees and the agreement
  3. Local knowledge of the area you want
  4. Marketing and track record on similar properties
  5. Communication
  6. How you felt after the conversation

The agent with the best total is rarely the one with the loudest advertising.

Market context helps too

The market affects what you need from an agent. In September 2026, LSTAR reported 561 sales and 5.9 months of inventory, with its chair noting signs of a buyers’ market. In that setting, ask how the agent would approach negotiation and comparing homes. Our 2026 market guide has more.

Common questions

Is there an official ranking of the best REALTORS® in London?

We are not aware of any official ranking, and we have not verified any. Rankings and badges are usually created by third parties, so ask who made the list, how it was built and what period it covers.

How can I confirm an agent is registered?

Search the public register on the Real Estate Council of Ontario website (reco.on.ca) to confirm registration and the brokerage.

How many agents should I interview?

Two or three is a practical number. Ask each the same questions, then compare their answers, their paperwork and how comfortable you felt.
